About Us
My name is Therese Taylor and I am the director of Making Life Simple. We have been in business in one form or another for about 16 years now and no matter what the form is, it always represents what is at the core of our values - helping others and trying to make a difference in the world, in the community, one person at a time.
I enjoy my work, in part, because I know what it's like to take the long way around in life. Raised in a loving home, but definitely part of the working class, I didn't realize exactly how poor we were until I filled out my first Financial Aid Form for college. Being the first in my family to go to college, I didn't have someone to show me the way. I wandered a bit, dabbled in some courses and worked 2-3 jobs for years, before I finally figured out the general direction I wanted to go in. Eventually, I completed my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan and have since worked in workforce development and non-profit doing counseling, case management, program management, public speaking, customer service and administration.
Through many interactions… in a variety of settings, I have come to believe that we often make our lives much more difficult than it really needs to be. As millions of others have, I have survived the ups and downs that life throws at us - depression, loss, changes in careers and relationships, anxiety and cancer. These circumstances have helped me gain perspective, purpose and appreciation. I wouldn't wish these experiences on anyone, so instead, let me help you jump ahead to the smoother sailing portion of life! Simply put, if our lives are easier, we tend to be happier, healthier and more productive. If we know what we value in life, and we live according to those values, we are going to be happier. If we know what it is we value, we will also be drawn to those things faster.
In 2020, the year of Covid, I decided to quit my day job and really make a serious, full-time go of my own business. This is my actual dream job! Part of my business now also includes reselling merchandise - everything from comic books and vinyl records to vintage and costume jewelry. It's so much fun! I will share this portion of my journey with you and would love to help you live your dreams. Please contact me today at (734) 218-5642 or therese@mls2day.com for more information on how we can make it happen for you or for questions regarding products and services.
